You don’t have to sing or play a musical instrument – you just have to love music to enjoy this retreat morning, with only a few words but a wide range of music.
Shirley Sargeant is an experienced teacher of meditation or listening prayer who has found music to be a wonderful gift that deeply expresses the spiritual joy of her heart. She is not a musician, but she will facilitate a time of relaxing and listening to music that will help to draw us out of the mundane and to reconnect us to our essence – to our inner and divine nature, our spirit.
Music is one of our most powerful gateways to connect to our spiritual nature — our divine source — the unseen, as well as to the universe around us and all those who inhabit it with us. Music has the unique ability to transform us independently of our thinking mind, to a place uninhibited by the judgments, doubts and fears that too often dictate the way we respond, and our self-limiting beliefs.
“Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life.” — Ludwig van Beethoven.
